“It’s important to hear those stories to get an accurate portrayal of what the system is really like and what it’s come to.”

Liam Bartlett was shocked by a call he received on 6PR Mornings today after it was revealed an 80-year-old man had to wait 13 hours to see a gastroenterologist.

Ainsley, a semi-retired GP, called the program and said he was rung by one of his previous patients in search of help.

“My poor patient is still sitting in Joondalup Hospital,” he said.

“He’s 80 years of age, he’s had a couple of vomits of blood, and he’s on blood thinners,

“I don’t think this is a reasonable process.”

Tap PLAY to hear the call and Liam Bartlett discuss the state of WA’s hospital system.
