A long running saga has been taking place in the City of Cockburn, where the Hammond Park football club has been trying to provide adequate parking for local families and players.

With wet weather ahead this weekend, Hammond Park Football Club President Ashley Ball told Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons he thinks there will be an incident with over 250 people trying to walk 650m through wet around roads that traffic a dog-leg truck route.

The City of Cockburn has provided the following response:

The City is aware of the Hammond Park Football Club’s concerns around parking at Frankland Park.

The City believes there is sufficient overflow parking in the area.

In addition to the 148-bay parking lot, there is a 75-bay overflow parking site on Parco Glade, 28 additional street bays, and a nearby high school with additional parking. These overflow bays are not being used to capacity. An additional 17 bays on Frankland Avenue are also due to be completed by July 2024.
