AdBlue crisis: Federal government confident in maintaining supply as taskforce is set up
The federal government will set up a taskforce to tackle the AdBlue crisis.
The exhaust fluid, which is added to diesel engines to reduce pollution, has seen its global supply significantly reduced.
It’s largely been caused by China halting exports of Urea – one of the main components of AdBlue.
Federal Energy Minister Angus Taylor said he’s confident the government is on top of the crisis.
“We have about seven weeks of stocks, both on the ground and on approach to Australia right now,” he said on 6PR Breakfast.
“That is actually in line with normal levels, it’s tight globally though so it’s a situation we are keeping an eye on.
“What’s not necessary, and certainly not helpful is people going out and buying additional stocks right now.
“That’s our greatest challenge, not indeed the supply lines.
“We’ll do everything we need to to make sure we’ve got the supply lines at an appropriate level.
“We’ve established a taskforce to make sure that is the case, headed by James Fazzino, who has a background in production of Urea”.
