AFL Fans Association baffled with 2023 floating fixture release
The AFL released the 2023 AFL floating fixture on Monday, raising eyebrows of many fans.
The origin of AFL floating fixtures began in 2020 when Covid-19 stifled the nation, as games could suddenly change at any given moment.
Ron Issko President of the AFL Fans Association told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live that the 2023 floating fixture makes it hard for fans to plan a day out at the football.
“I can tell you that fans across Australia have been talking to us and saying this is not good enough, what is this fixed-part, part-fixed floating?” He told Oly.
“Everyone here accepted the floating fixture in 2020, 2021 and even in 2022. They said the floating fixture would come off when Covid wasn’t such an issue, well Covid isn’t an issue anymore and now they’re saying having a floating fixture is good for broadcasters.”
