AI stole his book – now he’s warning it’s not going to stop
A star WA author has had his book basically ripped off wholesale through a notorious AI program, and is warning both writers and the government it’s a growing issue.
Geraldton man Holden Sheppard told Karl and Gena on 6PR Breakfast his book was fed into a website which has also regenerated the content of about 25,000 other books.

“It’s scraped them from the internet, fed them into a machine and spat them out the other side to train a software writing program,” Mr Sheppard said.
“It’s breaching copyright without permission or pay to us authors, so naturally we’re all pretty angry about it.”
