The Albanese government is reportedly considering implementing changes which could see the board members of residential aged care facilities in jail for up to five years if they’re found to be negligent.

Aged care expert and former chief executive officer of Aged & Community Services Australia, Paul Sadler, says the government has chosen to take on board a range of recommendation from the royal commission into aged care which link to a duty of “care”.

“That will reside on organisations and what is known as responsible persons and registered aged care providers,” he told Chrissy Morrissy, filling in for Julie-Anne Sprague.
