Albanese grilled on alternative pandemic plan
Anthony Albanese isn’t concerned if COVID-19 is helping his political chances at this year’s federal election.
The Opposition Leader said his most pressing concern about the pandemic was the impact it was now having on Australians.
“We’ve had some 600 deaths so far this year, the past week has been Australia’s most deadly,” he told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings.
“We’ve got aged care facilities that are locked down, people unable to see their loved ones, we have childcare centres that have closed, we’ve got food that’s not on the supermarket shelves, and we’ve got increased numbers in ICUs and hospital.
“That’s my concern… this government failed to plan, like they failed to plan for the rollout of the vaccine, they failed to plan for rapid antigen tests, even though they were warned many, many months ago that once we opened up there would be an increase in cases.”
Mr Albanese “And we have seen that exactly play out with tragic consequences.”
