AMA airs opposition to Murdoch maternity hospital plans
The WA branch of the Australian Medical Association is calling on the State Government to re-consider its decision to put the new Women and Babies Hospital at the Fiona Stanley site in Murdoch.
The AMA has issued a statement on its position and has written to the Health minister outlining its concerns.

Branch president Doctor Michael Page told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings it should be a priority to locate the hospital in close proximity to an adult and paediatric tertiary hospital, both of which are provided at the QE2 medical site in Nedlands.
“This is about the safety of the sickest babies in this state, it’s about the clinical safety of the mothers… we don’t think there’s an acceptable number of lives to lose to get this right,” Dr Page said.
