Beautiful sunrise heralds first Anzac Day dawn service at Kings Park in two years
Hundreds of people have gathered at Kings Park for a spectacular Dawn Service to commemorate Anzac Day.
For the first time in two years, veterans and delegates were able to gather at the State War Memorial to pay their respects to Australia’s service men and women.

Only 500 guests were allowed to attend the event – normally the largest in WA – with those present treated to a spectacular sunrise, a sky making up for lost time after the previous two services were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Minister for Defence, Industry and Veterans Issues Paul Papalia laid a wreath on behalf of Premier Mark McGowan, who remains in COVID isolation.

WA Governor Kim Beazley spoke at length, thanking the nation’s defence personnel for their service.
Beazley acknowledged the thousands of West Aussies paying their respects from their driveways on Monday morning, due to capacity limits at the Kings Park event.
