Organiser of Stop Armadale Train Line Closure Heath Indian has written to the Transport Minister, calling for the Armadale Line shut-down to be cancelled.

But today Rita Saffioti confirmed the proposed eighteen-month closure will go ahead next year as part of major Metronet upgrades.

Heath told Oly Peterson on Perth Live he’s concerned about how many extra cars could be on the roads with up to 30-thousand people using the train line everyday.

“This project is a copy of what they did in Melbourne, but the reason they did elevated rail in Melbourne is so they didn’t have to close down the rail line,” he said.

“Why we can’t have what Melbourne had without all the disruptions I don’t know. And to all my correspondence with the minister, they haven’t been able to provide me with a satisfactory reason why not.”
