A French backpacker has asked how Australians can be poor after saving $15,000 through fruit picking.

Australian Council of Trade Unions secretary Daniel Walton told Karl and Millsy on 6PR Breakfast there is similar opportunity for Australians to get involved in the industry, although many are hampered by accommodation and travel prices.
