He identifies as a proud country bogan from Geraldton, but Holden Sheppard is also the multi-award-winning author of Invisible Boys, which has now been adapted into a 10-part series on Stan, hitting number one in its first week of release.

Now, Holden has been awarded the 2025 Minderoo Artist Prize.

Holden spoke to Perth Today host Simon Beaumont in the 6PR studios about how his life growing up in Geraldton inspired this hit series and how the production was kept local.

“All WA, so written by a WA guy, adapted in WA, filmed here, local crew, lots of local cast,” he said.
