Lawyer Ben Dawkins has been selected as the replacement for retired Labor MP Alannah MacTiernan following a recount of votes from the 2021 State election. 

Despite facing 42 counts of breaching a family violence restraining order, Mr Dawkins said they were only entered as a ‘matter of convenience.’

Mr Dawkins has been suspended from the Labor Party with the process of expulsion already commenced but he will still take the upper house seat for the South West.
