An international security expert has told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings that China is trying to subvert Australia’s democracy through a navy laser attack on a RAAF plane.

Department of Defence officials have sent, please explain notes to counterparts in Beijing after the Chinese navy used a military-grade laser to attack a Royal Australian Air Force plane.

Lincoln Parker from the NSW Defence Innovation Network said that it would be a very different situation if Australia sent ships into China’s economic exclusion zone.

“Could you imagine what the Chinese response would be? They would be sending fighters. They’d be sending their maritime militia to ram our ships. They would make an absolute international incident over it,” Lincoln Parker said from the NSW Defence Innovation Network.

“But all we’re seeing is bullying from the Chinese, and I think this is a very big wake-up call to the Australian public.”
