‘Blight on society’: Shock number of attacks on public transport revealed
A concerning increase in violence on Perth’s public transport has led to calls for more to be done to protect public transport drivers.
Tim Dawson, State Secretary from the Transport Workers Union, told Oly Peterson that he is concerned and not surprising.
“It definitely isn’t getting better,” he said on Perth Live
“Bus drivers are threatened either verbally or spat on every day,
“We’ve been calling for a long time that we get better security.”

New data has revealed at least two people a day are being attacked on public transport.
More than 670 passengers and nearly 200 transit officers were attacked in the last financial year.
