Pitch perfect it wasn’t when a group of locals playing a late-night game of soccer ruined the turf at a local bowls club, forcing its closure indefinitely.

CCTV captured the incident at the 110-year-old Victoria Park Carlisle Bowling Club, which will lose critical funds in the next 6-8 weeks while it undertakes repairs.

VPCBC president Phil Long told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast a group of 15-20 people moved soccer goals from one area of the club to the bowling green, switched the lights on and destroyed the pitch in the process of playing.

“It’s put us behind the eight-ball for about six to eight weeks … where we might not be able to function at all,” he said.
