A sea plane has crash landed into the water at Thomson Bay just off Rottnest Island after it stalled on take-off.

Word on The Street caller Ian told 6PR Radio Perth Live presenter Russell Collett he witnessed the plane plunge into the water with its tail all that currently remains visible. How many passengers were onboard remains unknown.

WA Police are on the scene.
