Buglers Are Taking To The Streets On ANZAC Day To Play The ‘Last Post’
Perth hadn’t missed an ANZAC Day Dawn Service since the end of the Second World War. That was until this years event was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Some of our musical community around Perth have decided that despite the disruptions to continue to commemorate and remember our fallen ANZAC troops, in a physical distancing sensible way, by playing their instruments on April 25 around the suburbs.
Adam Hawksworth is a musician and music teacher and is spearheading the campaign. He is currently formulating a plan and enlisting other musicians to help conduct makeshift services, including playing the ‘Last Post’ and the ‘Reveille’, at different locations around Perth suburbia.
Thus far the following suburbs and streets will have a bugler:
Tapping, Hamilton Road Coogee, Willeton, North Perth, Gidgegannup Townsite, Pescara Place Oakford, Capel, Karrinyup, Helena St Guildford, Cordelia Place Alexander Heights, Eton St North Perth, Ray Marshal Park Woodbridge, Bassendean, Nedlands, Silver Sands Drive Iluka, Highgate opposite Highgate Primary School, and Holland Street Wembley
Please make contact if you know someone that will be playing ANZAC Day morning and we can add it to the list!
