New video footage has emerged of guards at Banksia Hill Juvenile Detention Centre brutally detaining a juvenile inmate.

Former WA Children’s Court President Denis Reynolds told 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont what happens in the juvenile detention centres is ‘extremely disturbing.

“No one disputes the offences…… the issue is how do you achieve safety,” said Mr Reynolds.

“You don’t achieve safety by treating children inhumanely.”
