Calls for the state to intervene as snake-necked turtles face local extinction

After 171 snake-necked turtles were decimated at the Cockburn wetlands, questions are being raised about the consequences if the State Government doesn’t fund a protection plan.

Dr Felicity Bairstow from Walliabup Wildlife Warriors explains to Perth Today host Simon Beaumont how local extinction has already happened at nearby lakes.
“Loosing those number of adult turtles in such a short period of time, it’s looking quite dire,” she said.
