CCC slams Cleo Smith rescuer’s disturbing police misconduct
The Corruption and Crime Commission has released its report into the misconduct of a former senior police officer who shot to fame when he helped find Cleo Smith.
The CCC found Detective Senior Sergeant Cameron Blaine formed a relationship with a young reporter whom he leaked confidential information to beginning from around the time Cleo was found.
Mr Blaine was stood down last year, pending the outcome of the investigation; he resigned from the force yesterday.
6PR reporter Anne Barclay told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings the CCC found Mr Blaine’s reasoning for a series of bizarre incidents – including the recording of a father being told his family had perished in a fire – was “highly implausible”.
