Charges laid over alleged Belmont bus assault
Police have charged two men and three teenagers, one as young as 13, over an alleged assault that took place on a Perth bus in Belmont on Monday.
Shocking footage of the incident had been circulating on social media, showing the group drinking alcohol and attacking a 52-year-old man.
Police will allege the five males boarded a bus on Abernathy Road just after 3pm on Monday, and were drinking alcohol and acting in a disorderly manner when they became involved in an argument with the man before assaulting him in the stairwell of the bus.
The group then exited the bus while the victim attended Royal Perth Hospital for treatment of his injuries which included bruising and lacerations.
A 22-year-old man has been charged with Aggravated Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm, Five counts of Stealing, he will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on October 20.
An 18-year-old man has been charged with Aggravated Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm, Two counts of Stealing, he will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on November 18.
While a 17-year-old boy has been charged with Aggravated Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm and will appear in the Perth Children’s Court later today.
