The Armadale and Albany child protection and family support offices have locked their doors while staff strike due to concerns the system is “drastically under-resourced and understaffed”.

Community and Public Sector Union and Civil Service Association branch secretary Rikki Hendon told 6PR Mornings host Gary Adshead the attraction and retention of staff working in child protection right now was “very, very dire”.

“In the Armadale office, presently there are 84 children who don’t have an allocated case worker – the reason why these children don’t have an allocated case worker is because there simply aren’t enough staff,” Ms Hendon said.
