Chinese students studying at overseas universities have been ordered to return to face-to-face learning this year.

The Chinese Service Centre for Scholarly Exchange says degrees will no longer be recognised in the country if they’re undertaken online.

CEO of the International Education Association of Australia, Phil Honeywood, says he welcomes the announcement.

“It will be great to get some life back on campus and to ensure our small businesses are thriving again because these Chinese students spend a lot of money when they’re in Australia,” Mr Honeywood said on 6PR Breakfast.
