Coalition dumps pharmacy dispensing block despite guild’s ‘fear campaign’
The Federal Opposition have backed down form their threat of blocking the Government’s 60-day prescriptions bill, despite the pharmacy industry’s ongoing campaign targeted at the buying public.
The coalition planned to block the plan to allow 60-day prescriptions for customers on the PBS, but the Pharmacy Guild of Australia have been lobbying intensely against the change, warning staff cuts and cost rises will follow.

PGWA Senior Vice President Natalia Willis told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings they were disappointed the Coalition had backed down, but were glad more consultation time had been put in place.
“Primarily it achieves what we’ve been asking for all along, which is putting pause on this policy and having further consultation with with the pharmacy industry in order to get it right,” Ms Willis said.
