Con Migro: The voice of Speedway in WA
This week’s West Aussie Great is Con Migro, a legend in Speedway and the voice behind the sport for decades in WA.
For more than 50 years, Migro has been the distinct voice on the PA system at Speedway events in WA.
Speaking to Gareth Parker, he said his aspirations began when he met international speedway rider Aubrey “Aub” Lawson.
“Aub Lawson was brought to the school, and he gave a talk on Speedway,” he said.
“He came with his leathers and his motorbike,
“And so I told my parents that I was going to be a speedway racer.”
Migro also told listeners about what kept him interested in the sport for all these years.
“It was mainly passion. I loved the sport. I believed that the sport did require to have more publicity, and I believed it deserved it,” he said.
“In fact, that was the thing that drove me all the time.”
