Cook gets grilled on PCH, Banksia Hill and the Voice
Roger Cook maintains he still has hope the Indigenous Voice will be enshrined in our constitution- despite polling favouring the No vote.
But most of the questions at his press conference focused instead on two trouble-plagued facilities – Perth Children’s Hospital and Banksia Hill Detention Centre.
The Premier admits the system let down a teenage girl allegedly raped in the mental health ward of the hospital in January last year – and says 7 million dollars has been invested in the ward since the incident took place.
“I think the responses in relation to that individual did not meet community expectations,” Mr Cook said.

Mr Cook also addressed questions about the exit of TIM MARNEY – the man tasked with reforming Banskia Hill Detention Centre and bringing in a trauma-informed model of care.
The former mental health commissioner is gone after just six months in the role, and a replacement is yet to named.
The Premier has praised the work MR MARNEY completed in the short timeframe – and says the state government will implement changes at the centre.
