UPDATE: The hacker accused of publishing the details of WA patients has been revealed to be a child.

LISTEN HERE:

The acting Deputy Director General of WA Health says the government is extremely disappointed that sensitive medical details of many West Australian’s were leaked on the internet.

The breach, which has been described as horrifying by AMA WA President Dr Andrew Miller, included messages between health authorities and doctors taken from a third-party pager service – which is linked to the state government’s coronavirus emergency management system.

As revealed by 9 News Perth, the information was then posted on hundreds of web pages and was available for anyone to access.

It has since been taken down.

Angela Kelly told Gareth Parker on Mornings the situation is unfortunate and a forensic review of the situation has been initiated.
