Deadline needed to wean Australia off gas: Climate change experts
Climate change policy directors are arguing the sale of household gas appliances should be completely ruled out in new houses if we have any hope of meeting climate targets.
Grattan Institute Climate Change & Energy Director Tony Woods told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings it was inevitable many appliances we now use would have to be phased out, and the sooner the better.
“That includes at some point internal combustion cars; the way we rely less on coal and gas and more renewables is happening very quickly,” Mr Woods said.
“The same thing applies in our own homes.”
