DFES spend critical night battling major regional bushfires
Firefighters from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services as well as volunteer brigades have spent a harrowing night battling against adverse weather conditions as bushfires threaten Toodyay and Lancelin.
Residents from both areas were forced to evacuate suburbs yesterday afternoon as the blazes threatened homes.
DFES Duty Assistant Commissioner Gary Gifford told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings he was proud of the work emergency services did performed during the night.
Our firefighters identified geographic breaks, and we’ve really worked hard to contain those fires at the early stages,” Mr Gifford said.
