Fremantle chief executive Simon Garlick hasn’t held back in his assessment of the AFL’s round one fixture.

Speaking at the club’s season launch, Mr Garlick highlighted their disappointment they won’t be playing their first game at Optus Stadium due to the Ed Sheeran concert.

The dockers were due for a round one game at home after a two-year hiatus.

Mr Garlick told Adam Papalia on WWOS it is a shame the team won’t be kicking off the season on home soil.

“The brutal reality is our stadium obviously looks to gather some additional revenue streams outside of the AFL,” said Mr Garlick.

“We understand, but it doesn’t mean we like it.”
