Doctors avoid discussing weight to prevent shaming accusations
A study has shown that doctors are avoiding uncomfortable conversations about weight with patients.
Professor Gemma Sharpe from Monash University and the University of Queensland explained to 6PR’s Gary Adshead that doctors are fearful of being accused of weight shaming.
“I understand that GPs are in a really tricky position. They want to approach this well, and they don’t want to offend anyone,” she said.
