The country’s top social services and ministers have joined with family advocacy groups to establish a clear and realistic set of goals to deal with the country’s ever-growing rates of domestic violence.

Another spate of horrific assaults and deaths has reignited the debate over whether enough tangible work is being done to deal with domestic violence, and the Federal Government is once again hoping to make serious efforts in the area.

Social Services Minister Amanda Rishworth told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings responding to crises has proven to simply not been enough.

“While it’s super-important to have a good crisis response, we need to be actually changing attitudes at the beginning,” Ms Rishworth said.
