‘Don’t close the coffin lid just yet’: Russell Morris on keeping the music alive
He’s had an undeniable effect on Australian music for decades now, but refuses to be written off any time soon.
Russell Morris – he of legendary songs like The Real Thing, Wings of and Eagle and Sweet, Sweet Love – performed those and more hits with symphony orchestras in Sydney and Melbourne earlier this year, much like he’ll be doing at Crown Theatre in November 11.
Morris told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast since 2012’s critically-acclaimed, Aria Award-winning album Shark Mouth, he has worked hard to galvanise his legacy.
“They were trying to tell me my shelf life was up, but I said, ‘Don’t close the coffin lid just yet’, and I kicked it off,” Morris said.
