Dr Clay Golledge: ‘I think it’s very important everyone gets their booster as soon as it’s due’
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has approved Moderna for the use of booster shots to protect against COVID-19.
It is now the second vaccine, alongside Pfizer, to be approved for a third shot within Australia.
Infectious Diseases expert Dr Clay Golledge, who runs Infections West, says Moderna can be mixed with other vaccines.
“There’s a big study we talked about last time out of UK Com-CoV that showed mixing and matching was a really good thing to do, and you can have Pfizer followed by Moderna or vice versa it doesn’t really matter. With this new strain, I think it’s very important everyone gets their booster as soon as it’s due,” he told Oliver Peterson.
Dr Golledge says booster shots exponentially protects against the virus.
“I think what will happen in the next few months is that they’ll probably bring that booster down from six months to four months,” he said.
