Canine drug-detection hero Henry came into the 6PR studio this Weekend with his Handler Senior Constable Brooke O’Keefe, and Canine Boss Ash Goh.

Brooke has been working with Henry for about five years, and told Simon he is absolutely part of the family.

“Henry comes home with me every day, comes to work with me in the morning, it builds a strong bond!” She said.

The dogs at the Canine Unit detect drugs, chase down criminals, and perform an increasingly important role in WA police operations – including community work involving families and kids.

This Saturday police dog Chase will be out and about meeting with the community as part of the WA Police Force Careers Day – at the Joondalup Police Academy – from 10am – 2pm.

Canine Section one of many areas recruiting within the WA Police, so head to the Career’s Day to find out more about opportunities within the police.

Staff from recruitment will be there to answer questions from entry requirements to training.

More information on how to register to attend can be found at www.letsjoinforces.wa.gov.au

Senior Sergeant Ash Goh told Simon Beaumont being Officer in Charge of the Canine Section is an absolute privilege and an honor.

“We’ve got great dedicated staff, police trained dogs, motivated people willing to serve… and disrupt organised crime.”
