E-scooter riders push for the right to ride bigger, quicker vehicles

A group of E-scooter riders have petitioned the WA Government to increase the maximum allowable speed and size of the devices.

E-scooter rider Michael Bertrand told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings  the petition is not aimed at allowing scooters to speed around Perth streets, however.

Instead, the group is attempting to establish a broader availability of E-scooters in the market, which could potentially improve all-round safety.

“The laws is prohibiting people from using scooters that are far more robust and durable, with better brakes and suspension and all the rest of it because those scooters are capable of more,” Mr Bertrand said.
