Education Department defends teen knife attackers’ alleged lack of supervision

Gary Adshead has put the WA Department of Education Director General to task for the apparent lack of supervision of the allegedly radicalised 16-year-old involved in last week’s fatal police incident.

Lisa Rodgers defended the role of the DoE, police and the involved school, saying due process was taken when the boy’s parents raised concerns earlier this year.

“The school were well aware of this boy, to the degree that not only were they monitoring where he was, he was issued with a school laptop and the browser was locked down,” Ms Rodgers said.

“They were reporting to police on a monthly basis.”
