Electric Vehicle Council labels Scott Morrison’s policy as problematic
The Electric Vehicle Council has described the federal government’s policy on electric vehicles as underwhelming.
It comes as the Morrison government announced a $250 million plan known as the Future Fuels Fund.
Most of the funding will be spent on charging stations.
But Electric Vehicle Council CEO Behyad Jafari said the policy is still “problematic”.
“We’ve been waiting some two years for this policy that’s already about a decade overdue,” he told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.
“I’d say this is more the first five pages of a book, rather than the whole thing.
“And really unfortunately, some of the really big things that the rest of the world’s move on over a decade ago like fuel efficiency standards … the governments ruled out for some reason.
“We can’t make sense of some of those things.”
