With the launch of the EV Index – a research program which details the uptake of electric vehicles across the country – stakeholders are expecting to see EV usage increase in WA.

RAC External Relations Manager Will Golsby told Ian Blackley on 6PR Afternoons more than 50 per cent of members surveyed were considering buying an electric vehicle.

“No doubt fuel prices, when they hit $2 per litre and above, it really turned people’s attention to the electric vehicle market and what it may bring,” Mr Golsby said.

Perth resident Lizzie is one of 20 RAC members who have given an electric vehicle a go as part of a week-long trial.

She said she was drawn to the trial due to wanting to reduce her carbon footprint and make a proactive impact towards conservation.

“It’s really terrific; I think I drive more safely,” Lizzie said.
