EVs being written off after minor accidents from lack of skilled labour
An increasing number of electric vehicles are being scrapped completely over being repaired with a lack of labour knowledge and part availability.
Motor Trades Association of Australia, CEO Matt Hobbs told Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons there is a plan to implement growth in the sector, it just needs help from the government to get it working.
“We need to ensure the industry has enough apprentices, upskill the people that are there and make sure they are safe and know what they are doing on these vehicles…But also look at the other parts of government and putting these skills on the skills priorities list,” Hobbs said.
“With any new technology you’ve got to bring the skills along to fix them and fix them efficiently and quickly.”
