The Federal Government will in two weeks unveil what it hopes will be the answers to a range of urgent skills and labor shortfalls across the country.

A boost to migration numbers is one of the initiatives expected at the Jobs and Skills Summit in Canberra.

Federal Immigration minister Andrew Giles told 6PR Mornings host Liam Bartlett he hoped to get a better idea on how many migrant numbers business and industry required after the summit.

“There have been a lot of numbers that have been talked about, and I’m concerned to make sure we have the discussion at the summit and we work through the issues, hear all the perspectives and then make a decision on this, that’s the way we’ve got to go about this to bring Australians together on the role that skilled migration is going to play on addressing these crises at the moment but also the longer term vision for how our economy is working and how the labour market is going,” he said.
