Another passenger has attempted to open the emergency exit mid-flight during an AirAsia flight bound for Sydney, after the Flight Attendants’ Union suggested a booze ban might be necessary.

Richard de Crespigny, former Qantas pilot and author of QF32, spoke to 6PR Breakfast hosts Millsy and Karl about the logistics of an emergency exit being opened mid-flight, and what might drive a passenger to attempt such risky behaviour.

“Maybe they’re getting on board stressed, with drugs and alcohol, and that brings on this really illogical behaviour,” he said.
