Faith, Football and Family: Bachar Houli
Richmond premiership player Bachar Houli, the first devout Muslim to play AFL, has written a book about his journey of sharing his passion between sport and religion.
When a young Houli was just an AFL hopeful and preparing for the draft camp, the timing coincided with Ramadan and he was fasting and described the experience in his new book, Faith, Football And Family.
But he told 6PR Breakfast although he didn’t get the best results in some testing, it was bearable.
The 220-game defender says he’s thankful he’s been supported in his faith throughout his career.
“You’ve just got to be true to your values and most importantly uphold a great characteristic which is respect,” Houli told Steve and Baz.
He also confirmed he will be in the Yellow and Black next year, here’s just got to sign on the dotted line.
