Small- to medium-sized building companies are right in the middle of the worst financial and economic circumstances “in a generation”, according to those involved.

The housing market crunch continues to deeply affect builders and owners alike, with more and more families left with no other choice but to wait out seemingly unending delays to their home construction.

Business owner Bevan Gulvin told Gary Adshead onĀ 6PR Mornings what was originally expected to be a 300-day build has blown out to more than four years.

“At the time we knew COVID was affecting things, much like our own business, but it wasn’t until about 12 months into the build that things that should have been taking weeks stretched out to months,” Mr Gulvin said.
