Jury out on extent of Darcy’s injury

Fremantle General Manager of Football Peter Bell has told 6PR Perth that star ruckman Sean Darcy’s season may be over.

Speaking with Adam Papalia on Wide World of Sports during Thursday Night’s program, Bell expressed his concern that Darcy’s ankle injury is more significant than first thought.

“It’s reasonably serious. Sean’s having consultations with some specialists and potentially may have some surgery on the ankle ligaments that he’s damaged,” Mr Bell said.

“He’s obviously not playing in the short term and it may be a little longer than what we’re all expecting.”

The news means that star recruit Luke Jackson will play a key role in the ruck for the remainder of the year.

“We’re very confident he’s (Jackson) in good physical shape to spend a lot more time rucking than what he has done with Sean in the team.”
