Federal Government to tackle “incredibly alarming” plastic production
The Federal Government is considering new laws to govern how packaging is designed including stopping the use of certain toxic chemicals, and mandating a minimum amount of recycled content.
Cip Hamilton, Plastics Campaign Manager at the Australian Marine Conservation Society, spoke to 6PR Afternoons host Chrissy Morrissey on the critical need to reduce plastic production.
“We just don’t have options to avoid plastic packaging and this means we need an overhaul of the entire system,” she said.
