Federal Government ‘wimps’ for backing down on Aus Day date debate

A regional WA Mayor has thrown a bit of common sense at the Federal Government, urging them to stop being ‘wimps’ and make a decision on the Australia Day debate  before it divides the community any further.

Geraldton has traditionally held Australia Day celebrations every year on the same day, with the majority of the town on-board.

But, as City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune explained to Lachy and Will on 6PR Breakfast, the ongoing debate over the date is causing issues.

“It’s starting to divide the community a bit; the only complaint I’ve had up until this point is that I overcooked the eggs during the breakfast,” Mr Clune said.
