Federal MPs reach triple figures in Parliamentary ejections
New data shows Federal Members of Parliament have not bucked the maligned tradition of rowdy behaviour in the country’s governing institutions, with 118 MPs booted from the room during Question Time in the last year.
Two sets of figures stand out: the overwhelming majority – 87 per cent – of those ejected were from the opposition, while Coalition Spokesperson for Social Services Michael Sukkar and fellow Liberal Tony Pasin earned themselves 15 red cards each.
6PR Federal Political Reporter Zach de Silva told Sean Cowan on 6PR Breakfast if someone disagrees with a counterpart across the aisle, “they’ll yell it across the House of Representatives”.
“At times a Member with time will start yelling at a Minister – they’re often trying to get their grab on to the news,” Mr de Silva said.
