The federal government is seeking feedback for the state’s first offshore wind zone off the coast of Bunbury; similar plans have been met with protest groups on the east coast.

This year is shaping up to be a watershed moment for the establishment of the offshore wind industry in Australia, but what obstacles must it overcome?

Oceanex Energy co-founder and CEO Andy Evans sat down with Julie-anne Sprague to discuss where the industry is now, and what is involved in trying to break the stereotypes that often plague wind farm construction.

“I think offshore wind, whilst we’ve been progressing it for 12 years in Victoria, I think it’s about to hopefully come to it’s natural home which is Western Australia,” Mr Evans said.
